A Gently Decaying World


My goodness, it’s been a while since I got outside to take photos! This stump looks like a miniature landscape to me, complete with spires and buildings and terraces. But of course, it’s an old, decaying landscape. Its days of greatness are behind it.

We went to Marshall, Texas to watch a movie tonight and when we got out of the movie it was late, so there was almost no one around when we drove past the historic courthouse.

Our pecan tree has finally lost all of its leaves, and I happened to look up this evening during the early moments of dusk and see the moon framed by the bare branches.

We have had a least one good freeze, but the roses apparently didn’t mind as much as I thought they would. They’re still gorgeous and it’s the last day of November!
